To follow up on what we began with The Servant Church Arises, we will be meeting again
January 26, 2010 for an event entitled Dare to Dream.
Dare to Dream
Tuesday, January 26, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Earle Brown Heritage Center in Brooklyn Center
Might we, in the church today, dare to dream how God will use us to make a real and lasting difference?
Conversations around racism abound. In recent months, racism was a national topic of conversation when a congressman shouted his frustrations aloud during a presidential address. Here in Minnesota, two African American men—one with autism—were beaten on the same evening in September in a Brooklyn Park attack believed to be racially motivated.
On this important topic, where is the church? Dr.
Martin Luther King Jr. expressed his dream almost 50
years ago that we not allow skin color to be a barrier
to opportunity, safety, fairness, friendship, and respect.
But we in the church have often been absent from the
discussion and in some cases have assisted in keeping
structures in place that encourage racism.
Join us for an inspiring and thought-provoking conversation sponsored by Faith in the City and LINC-Twin Cities.
Goals for the conference include:
Churches and organizations are encouraged to bring 6-8 people who will work together throughout the day. Cost is $20 per person. Advanced online registration and payment are required or by mail using the brochure. RSVP by Tuesday, January 12 to assure your place at this important event.
